Mass and Volume Metrology Laboratory
The Mass and Volume Laboratory are situated on the ground floor having rigid and isolated RCC floor. This is designed to absorb the vibration induced even while walking on the floor. A uniquely developed air conditioning draught shields installed which flows from bottom to top, to eliminatethe air-draught effect on the precision and sensitive measurement of Mass and Volume.

Utmost care is taken designing the layout of the Laboratory that guardsagainst the ambient micro air-pressure developed while opening and closing of the laboratory door. Rigid platform having shock-absorbing pads absorbs the micro oscillations/vibration and isolates the humming. Uncertainties in measurement due to influencing factors are controlled to the minimum.
Temperature, Relative Humidity and Air Pressure are controlled, monitored and measured in Laboratory, as required by the relevant Standards and accreditation body (NABL). Precision data loggers are located at strategic locations, to analyze the gradients in these environment parameters.
Laboratory has recently developed and established a unique facility for determination and calibration of Density and Specific Gravity Hydrometers. This facility is established as a result of more than 3 years rigorous research in consultation with National Research Council, Canada (CNRC) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The Calibration and Measurement Capability (CMC) of this calibration setup is at par with various National Metrology Institutes (NMI) across the world.
